Is Trojan War a Fallacy or a Factuality?

War shows us to be strong than we ever thought we would be, it tests our mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and other aspects that are required in a trial. There are no winners in a war unless there is a survivor, so you need to be all out on the battlefield. You have to sacrifice something for you to live. Beyond changes may have been created a war. Some people who are under with that situation doesn't have any choice than to fight in the battle

The Greek poet Homer was born sometime between the 12th and 8th centuries BC, possibly somewhere on the coast of Asia Minor. He is famous for the epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey, which have had an enormous effect on Western culture, but very little is known about their alleged author. Scholars believed that behind the stories that were tackled, there must be a grain of historical truth. A journalist named Charles Malaren was a believer he is a journalist and a geologist. Malaren was the first one to publish a detailed topographical study of the place named Hisarlik, which is derived from the Turkish word "fortress". Before he could explore any further, during that time the Crimean War broke. After the war has ended, he began to survey the site, but he lacked the funds for excavation. But then an archeologist Heinrich Schliemann came in. Heinrich excavated since he was eager to find the ancient city. He dug all the way to the base of the hill, and there he found a lot of precious artifacts. Heinrich took the credit for the discovery. But they later realized that the mound has consisted of 9 cities. And scholars still dispute whether the Trojan War as described by Homer ever happened. Yet the evidence is strong enough that UNESCO has labeled Hislark the archeological site of Troy.

Life has given us challenges and it has no choices, it goes out to anybody. So for you to solve this you just need to see it from different angles. You don't need to plant hatred from yourself because it won't help you, instead, you should convert your problems into a stepping stone for you to become a strong person. We want to live in peace so we must not create chaos. Let the right thing rule and be an ideal model this world needs. And yes indeed, big matters come from small points.

We don't actually know if the Trojan War is real or not but it left us lessons, we should always think first before doing some insane stuff that could lead everyone including yourself in danger. It's normal to create mistakes but we should repent in facing the consequences.

DESIDERATA ; Happiness

Happiness comes in different forms and ways, but I believe happiness is just temporary. Just like what Mother Teresa said, that happiness and joy are different. Happiness can also mean a feeling of inner peace. Happiness is a cure or medicine to the soul. Being happy is sometimes limited because there is that part of our mind that if we encounter happiness, maybe there is also a consequence afterward. In our mindset, if we have freedom for sure there is also an exchange. So for me, happiness does not last long unless you know how to balance it. Life does not focus on the positive side but also on the most challenging parts, since there we can learn new things that we thought we can't handle.

"Do not compare yourself to others; for you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself"This line made me realize that we must be grateful for who we are. If you always see life's misery and you're stuck on always keeping an eye on the negative side, then your heart will always be full of anger. There will be no harmony at all if you always conceive hatred as your partner. Appreciate little things for those who are your source of strength. Be contented and live simply. Don't boast too much in which it's too distracting and maybe it will come to the point where people find it nonsense already. Be humble and be kind, learn to love everything and understand the cycle and the meaning of life, just go with the flow and be positive.

This poem helps me to ease everything. Learn to breathe in and breathe out. Be patient because life takes a step by step process, you can't skip any upcoming struggles because if you tend to skip one, I believe that everything will fall apart. Each obstacle gives a life-changing outcome for us to be a better person. The poem also made me realize how truly life works, it isn't about pleasant rides but also there are always tough ones. But the most important thing is that we must also take a break and be happy, even though happiness takes responsibility.

We should correct our own mistakes, for we are the masters of ourselves. We should learn and fix it and those mistakes will be a lesson that we should not forget so that those lessons will be applied to our upcoming challenges to become a better person. And always have faith in God, for he knows what is he doing for ourselves.

NEPAL’S EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS PLAN

Nepal is a highly disaster-prone country. The country has a fault line at the lower part of Nepal between Indo-Australian plate and Eurasian Plate. The fault is a more likely part of the Alpine- Himalayan Belt because of the place being near the Himalayans and Mt. Everest. Nepal is also known as “the ceiling of the world” because it has 8 out of 10 of the world’s highest mountains. The first in the list is Mount Everest. It is the collision of these plates that has produced the Himalaya Mountains, and with them, there are earthquakes. The epicenter was near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mt. Everest.

For the structure if their buildings, they’re mostly from the Buddha’s period which could be thousands of years ago. The traditional resources were adobe constructions, wooden-framed houses, and rubble stone masonry were the most popular in villages while urban and suburbs were stone or brick masonry which is 20% of reinforced concrete. So that means that 80% of Nepal’s buildings were non-engineered. April 25 earthquake measured 7.8 on the moment magnitude scale, the largest since the 1934 Bihar quake, which measured 8.2 and killed around 10,000 people. Another quake in Kashmir in 2005, measuring 7.6, killed around 80,000 people.

After the earthquake event, ninety-four percent of people have realized the risk of earthquake disaster while more than eighty percent have seriously discussed the potential effect within family and community and identified the need for preparedness at the household and community level

Before and After the Bihar Earthquake

Building structures from Nepal

The reaction-based from the information gathered, we are clearly disturbed because Nepal isn’t ready enough in case there are earthquakes or disasters. Since Nepal is also considered as one of the world’s natural disaster “hotspots” Even the structures of the buildings and houses are made out of adobe construction, wooden framed houses and rubble stone masonry. Nepal is one of the most destructive and life taking scenarios if any quake might happen. Their facilities and structures are not compatible for any trembling that may occur. Nepal has a convergent boundary or also known as a destructive boundary in which it can be so dangerous for the people living. If they won’t strengthen and enhance their facilities, structures, and preparedness, many would suffer their lives, so with that, they should be warned.

Between the two countries of Nepal and the Philippines, both of them are in poverty but Nepal has lack of facilities for them to improve the structures of their buildings. Nepal was placed literally on top of Alpine-Himalayan Belt while the Philippines is placed around 5 different faults namely The Eastern Philippine Fault, The South of Mindanao Fault, Central Philippine Fault, and the Markina/ Valley Fault System. So, therefore, Nepal gets more intense earthquakes than the Philippines. Nepal also gets least volunteers than the Philippines, their preparedness plan is different from the Philippines. According to our research, five percent of the locals in Nepal only participated in discussions events and think that these types of programs are neither sufficient nor effective. Eighty-five percent of the people have learned about earthquake risk from these media sources. In Nepal they don’t perform or execute in having seminars or discussions, they only tell the civilians what will happen before, during, and after the earthquake. While in the Philippines the NDRRMC hold seminars that discuss and make the civilians perform for them to get to know what will happen before, during and after. They inform what should they prepare if any calamities might happen. The buildings of Nepal are mostly made of stone brick masonry and only 40% of total buildings are made of reinforced concrete, which can withstand an earthquake with better survivability while in the Philippines total percentage of reinforced concrete buildings is considerably higher.

Earthquakes are unpredictable, we individuals wouldn’t even know whether when will that thing happen nor would that be vulnerable one or not. As what individuals would always say, “Best the thing to do is just to be prepared physically and mentally”

We should be prepared anytime because we cannot predict our future. That’s why preparedness should be practiced and must matter to everyone the most so that not only you can save yourself, but if you see someone who needs help, you can lend your hands to grab them. Be alert every time and join any seminars that involve first aid and preparedness so that if there are calamities, you always know what to do and what you shouldn’t do.

Before, Nepal’s earthquake plan regarding on preparedness is not so powerful enough to lessen the casualties since Nepal is also known as one of the poorest country, and they couldn’t afford to make the structures of the buildings strong enough to withstand the tragedy. But now, a new government task force was created to help deal with future earthquakes. The people are now educated across Nepal to perform earthquake drills.

It’s also good since they are planning for the structures of the building that it shouldn’t be the same as before where it can be easily crushed into pieces due to the trembling and movement of the ground that can’t withstand the subduction of the two plates which are the Indo- Australian Plate and Eurasian Plate.

ACT- IS FAMILY 2019

During the 27th day of January 2019, everyone was gathered for the annual Family Day. ‘Tis the day to enjoy and spend the rest of the time together with your loved ones.  Surely we saw the excitement and enthusiasm of everybody's faces and how their mouth showed curves on that event.

A mass was held before the activity started, asking for more guidance and protection to all the family, and thanking for the blessings that have been given throughout that day. The students and their families were staying at their booths already and were wearing their shirts that represent their batch.

Each level was required to dance, and little do they know that it was a competition, they were informed during that day that all along, the dance they were practicing for days was a dance contest. Everyone did their best as they were performing on the stage in front of the judges. Giving all of their best shots just to win and most of all just for them to enjoy and feel the moment.
Just like what my batchmates did and to some parents who were part of our dance, we did have fun dancing in front of all the audiences and pretty sure that's why we were honored as the best group performer for the junior high school department.

After the dance competition, another set of contest was held and it was the best t-shirt design. Everyone showed their shirts as they performed and fortunately just like last time, my batch won the contest again. It was my classmate, Mary Chrisha E. Tadios who designed the shirt.

To make the event fun, there were raffles and prizes they were giving and lucky for those who were chosen ones. A booth design contest was also there and more entertainments as well. They invited a guest to perform and sponsors for that event.

Dinner time was also fun because the seats were not good for all so we decided to have a picnic instead, together with our advisers. We shared funny moments and talked about life the same as with love life on how it's gonna be in the future and the like. 'Twas a great experience for me because we were setting the place in the middle of the roadway. We really didn't bond with my family at that time because they were on my sister's booth and they also took their dinner there.

After eating dinner, I finally then changed my outfit for the next event which is the "I got it from my mama and papa" My family is the representative for my level and we were so thankful for the support that has been given to us, especially for choosing and trusting us to represent my batch. We did practice for about 2 days to be exact, and as we performed, we danced like it was our last and I felt something more different because it was my first time dancing in front of them together with my family. It was an honor for us dancing because I do believe that it is our passion, our talent that runs in our blood. And we were thankful to showcase it. We didn't even expect to win, but for us, we just wanted to dance in front of the audience and judges and the goal there was, "we should not be embarrassed or humiliated as performing" but we didn't expect for the prize to come near us.

Still, for the past three (3) school years, we are
still the undefending champions and hopefully for the next school year too, our last school year there at ACT as a junior high school student. Overall the event was fun and worth all along.

CERTAIN TYPES OF CYBERBULLYING CAN BE CONSIDERED AS CRIMES

Cyberbullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass or target another person. It may meet the definition of cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. There are different types of doing crimes through online. The fake account, web page, or online persona has been created with the sole intention to harass and bully. Modern-day bullying can happen at home as well as at school- essentially 24 hours a day.

Picked- on kids can feel like they’re getting blasted nonstop and that there is no escape. As long as kids have access to a phone, computer or other devices they are at risk. Severe, long term or frequent cyberbullying can leave victims and bullies at greater risk for anxiety, depression, and other stress-related disorders

Experts say that kids who are bullied and the bullies themselves are at higher risk for suicidal thoughts, attempts, and completed suicides. The punishment for cyberbullies can include being suspended from school or kicked off of sports teams.

Cyberbullying is worse than the real world. Fraudulent bullies who are not picky at all doesn’t have a choice but to bully them throughout the social media even though they knew the consequences that could happen to them.

And the bully can't do much to stop the thugs because they feel that the world is against them. Most of the bullies don't want to tell that they've been bullied because they think that it can't be undone neither solved. And they don't want to add up problems to others, especially to their family.

Being a bullyrag is not easy, if you know someone else there, then help them, try to comfort and let them feel that they really do belong in this place. Try to be the comforter and not be the bully. Be someone's hero and it's not too late to take action. Be the first one to start.
